New York Fashion Week is THE fashion week in America, and I was lucky enough to work and attend for the third season in a row. I work every show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center and am fortunate enough to view most of those shows. In recent seasons it has become more of a spectacle than it has been in the past. You will no be walking around and notice the absurd amounts of street style bloggers and photographers wanting to snap your photo and along with them: the street style stars. More on that topic later.
Anyway, here are a few from my busy week to prove that I was there. I have more, but they’re really unnecessary to post.
There comes a time in your life when you graduate from youthful adolescence to an adult, some quicker than others. We got a taste in Karlie’s Vogue Italia editorial, but now, we see that our princess has grown up into a sex kitten to be reckoned with. During MBFW, I was not only lucky enough to stand next to Karlie, but I got to witness the walk. Put me down gently now, for I have seen it all.

There may be more covers coming, but I’m going to focus on these right now. I believe this may be Miss Kloss’s first shoot with Karl, so I’m going to say this is really major for her career. May she become a Chanel girl, amen. Covering in Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture, Karlie’s cover was the first to be revealed and obviously our girl is working it. Need the editorials ASAP.

She really has quite the body, doesn’t she? Whoever is in charge of Karlie’s career deserves a pat on the back. There is this push to make her a supermodel, much like Gisele, and she’s getting so close. We all know Karlie has what it takes, but will she be the next household name? I’m thinking yes.
What makes me laugh about all of this is everyone being stunned by her new sexy image. Yeah, I still think she’s 15 and seeing Karlie’s areolas is just…well, you know, you feel like bathing and pouring rubbing alcohol on your eyes. Turns out all of those seasons as the face of Dior added up and she’s 19 now, so I think fembot Karlie is here to slay. Bitches better stay clear on the runway.

My baby is growing up. I’ve been weeping at how much Karlie Kloss has been slaying recently. Although her career has been huge since she debuted, now she’s becoming a household name thanks to Victoria’s Secret. Girl will be cashing those checks for years to come with that killer body of hers. 19 brought a whole new career for Karlie.
Angela Lindvall in Andrew Gn Pre Fall 2011 and Karlie Kloss in Christian Dior were captured together at the Met Ball. While Lindvall looks forever youthful, we have to hand it to Kloss for bringing out her beauty and maturity. The cropped hair is also fresh.
Supermodel, Raquel Zimmermann, was ravishing in black, feathered Alexander McQueen with a McQueen clutch to match. If everyone stuck to the theme like Raquel, the night would have been that much more exciting and interesting.
Lily Donaldson wore a blue lace Erdem Spring 2011 dress and looked super chic. Many were worried about the gown, but she looked sexy with a touch of delicate beauty.
Last but not least on my model watch, Jessica Stam. I was surprised to see Jessica so prim and sweet in a dressed made for her by Tommy Hilfiger. She paired the saccharine tulle with a Chopard 50-carot diamond necklace. I found this unexpected for her, since she usually adorns herself in this street fashion, rock girl and it was definitely a lovely surprise.
*Doutzen, Natalia, and Gisele looked fabulous too, but everybody knows that already.
I am going to differ from the majority here and say that I actually kind of like this editorial. Say what you want about this girl, but I love her clomp and dare I even say it’s fierce, all the way down to her cute, smug look. The photography here is weak and I first thought it was Terry Richardson shooting this, but putting that aside, I like Karlie grown up. I love her smoking, because you feel she’s too young and shouldn’t be doing so, but all the while, it’s slightly bad ass, eh?

How fabulous are these girls? Remove Carmen and Edie with maybe Abbey, Anja or Natasha and we have a perfect list in this UK Vogue dedicated to stars. True supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer are joined with seasoned veteran Angela Lindvall and a list of my favorites. Golden and beautiful.
The perfect excuse to postpone studying for my exam tonight. I’m not much on ’80s and ’90s floral, but Louis Vuitton did it so well for Fall’s ’50s and ’60s feminine silhouettes. The styling of Vogue China’s cover gives this a light, airy feel to offset these stunning creatures: Patricia Van Der Vilet and our beloved trotting Karlie. Inside the issue, we are welcomed to an exaggerated chicness, full of Lanvin and Givenchy we could spot out from a sea full of brilliance. Add some Maison Martin Margiela and some wigs, and here you have an editorial that is acute and on point.

How adorable is Karlie Kloss and the rest of the models who can’t lip sync or dance? Also, why did I have to be reminded of Marc Jacobs’s show. The literal interpretation was horrifying, it was something only Jodie Foster could love. I understood the YSL and Taxi Driver references, but the questionable usage of fabrics and the whole aesthetic. I’m at a lost for thoughts. I keep telling myself it did not happen/it’s not that bad, but here’s to hoping he’ll pull through with Louis Vuitton and eventual campaigns. It will grow on me, right? Right?
