I can haz Lanvin?
No really, I can’t stop all of my anticipation for this collection. I was really excited for these pieces, because I am the Lanvin fanboy. While nothing is as good as the original, and I can’t wait to see the day I can accept no less, these are essential Lanvin pieces now made for H&M, the other love of my life. Swoon. Here’s a peek at the menswear. The trench, the bow ties, the pants; I want them all. Are those plum-colored shoes or are my eyes deceiving me? It could be all excitement and the fact it’s almost 4am.
Me thinks neither Indianapolis locations will be one of 200 stores that receives the collection. Oh well. It saves on the old bank account and the
innocent shoppers trying to get to what I deserve: every piece.
Sweet Mother of Wintour! Alber packs a vicious punch for H&M. I’m so ecstatic that he is bringing those perfect silhouettes, that tuxedo jacket, and well, Natasha Poly. Loving it and need more.
Lanvin is heaven. Always perfect and everything more. From airy silks, master draping, to perfect pleats and simple, yet interesting silhouettes, Alber never can disappoint me. My favorites include Karlie in her billowing pink and fuchsia gown, Frida in her perfectly executed opening gown, and let’s not forget the split dress on Lily and the wonderfully constructed suit on Abbey Lee. Perfection.
This is old news, right? I’m sorry, I just can’t hold my excitement. I am really eager to see what Alber has created for H&M. I’m doubting the items will be available of any of my Indianapolis stores, but if they are, I’ll for sure be purchasing a piece immediately. While I may be male, I’m sure there is a piece that I can wear, right? Lanvin is always at the forefront of my excitement when the Paris catwalks begin, so I’m expecting great things. What just raised my level of anxiousness is the fact that Natasha Poly will be modeling the campaign. Seriously cannot wait.
Along with the release, Lanvin x H&M has created a blog competition to bloggers around the world to register their blogs to be voted for a chance to win the world exclusive trailer of the H&M fashion show. Naturally I placed myself in, but who knows if I’ll get any votes. If you want, go ahead and vote for me. I don’t believe the winning blog has even reached 700 at the time of posting this. VOTE HERE I guess.
Lanvin’s campaign finally came out and I love the cast and the clothes, the makeup…a little too hard. The eyes in particular are a tad whorish, but the models are definitely working this campaign. We have Anja Rubik, Magdalena Frackowiak and Mariacarla Boscono posing up something fierce for Steven Meisel. Oh Alber, please tell me it is the last season for these tribal influenced pieces.
10 Magazine is celebrating its 10th anniversary with 10 separate covers of 10 designers they call “Gods and Goddesses.” Well, duh. Each designer was photographed by a photographer of their choice:
Domenico Dolce/Stefano Gabbana: Terry Richardson
Helmut Lang: Passport Photo
Vivienne Westwood: Jeurgen Teller
Ralph Lauren: Bruce Weber
Karl Lagerfeld: Karl Lagerfeld
…and the rest of the designers include Alber Elbaz, Azzedine Alaia, Donatella Versace, John Galliano and Tom Ford.
I love D&G’s photo. They’re so damn adorable together, not to mention Stefano is kind of sexy. Vivienne’s is just awesome with her contrasting skin, what she’s wearing, and the background painting. It’s like the contrast is meant for each other. I also love Tom Ford’s fore I plan marry him one day. What a sexy man he is.
“These are some of the faces that have made our industry and it is an honour to be celebrating them. 10 magazine has a history of celebrating the best creative talent in the world and we are honoured that these icons of fashion agreed to be our cover stars,” said Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, the magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief (who is also creative director and fashion director at Harper’s Bazaar UK).
There has been a string of rumors this past week dealing with Lagerfeld leaving Chanel and Alber Elbaz taking his place. I cannot even fathom Chanel at the moment without Lagerfeld, but are these rumors true? From the beginning we travel:
Coming from Tommy Ton’s twitter -
“I received some news tonight that is going to SHAKE the fashion world in the next two days. CRAZY!!”
“I can’t tell. I’d swore I’d zip the lip but I’ll tell you my mouth nearly dropped to the ground when the news was whispered into my ear.”
Grazia responded and said what they thought of the news. Both Chanel and Lanvin both called these pieces false. Chanel sent out a statement:
“Please note that Karl Lagerfeld is the Creative Designer of CHANEL and has a long-term contract with the company. Replacing him is not an issue.”
This would obviously cause such a ruckus. The former ‘Dark Knight’ leaving Chanel is huge and I’m interested to see what would come of it if Alber came in for the house, but I don’t think that will happen for a while. Karl is very involved still with what he does, and I don’t see someone leaving Chanel to do something else with their time. I guess we’ll see within the coming weeks and months what shakes up.
Oh, do I love models. Lanvin brought out the black wigs and all sorts of edge. Love. While I’m still digesting the amazing that is Lanvin and Alber Elbaz, I will leave you with a preview with the fiercest models in town. Enjoy Sasha, Marina, Shu Pei, Kasia, Freja, and more who have all been from New York to now Paris during these few weeks of fashion. Continue reading
