While in New York, I added an affordable rain boot from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It was a great $30 purchase I don’t regret. I have been able to wear them around the yard when letting my dog out and as their proper use in the rain. What shoe that I’m going to speak of is what I received before NYFW. I finally broke down, and as a gift, I got the Jeffrey Campbell (The Damned) Switchblade. Some of you may know that their is a men’s line of Jeffrey Campbell’s  that is known as The Damned that include heels and wedges for men. I find this to be very limiting and I will never understand why Jeffrey Campbell doesn’t include sizes on women’s shoes to make them fully unisex, but at the end of the day, I still have my babies. I find it so heteronormative that in this day there is such a separation of women’s attire and menswear. There is no sex to clothing and hopefully someday as a society this will change.

The Switchblade has a heel of 4 1/2″ with a 1/2″ platform. The interesting shape had me sold from the get-go. Now, what I regret is not also purchasing the Pixie Man. The wedges are perfection in every way. Alas, they’re all sold out, but my dreams came true a few days ago. While playing on eBay, I found a seller of the Damned x B Calla Fred wedge, which is the same wedge, just with camo fabric on the outside. I don’t do camo, so I will be dying them upon receiving them and will document the process and results.

I’m not usually for excess when it comes to jewelry. I generally keep it to a minimum with one bracelet. There seems to be an increasing trend of packing on, or wrapping on if you will, as much as possible on to your wrist. Today I present to you my extent of arm candy.

I pulled out the mesh shirt for a night on the town. I’m all for nipple-exposure and this ensemble presented that and more to the world. Leather, nipples, and mesh. A combination for success.

Karlie Kloss being the Queen of fashion week.

New York Fashion Week is THE fashion week in America, and I was lucky enough to work and attend for the third season in a row. I work every show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center and am fortunate enough to view most of those shows. In recent seasons it has become more of a spectacle than it has been in the past. You will no be walking around and notice the absurd amounts of street style bloggers and photographers wanting to snap your photo and along with them: the street style stars. More on that topic later.

Anyway, here are a few from my busy week to prove that I was there. I have more, but they’re really unnecessary to post.

My husband Clement at J.Crew. The show was full of prints and colors.

Leandra: The Man Repeller herself in American Apparel denim and a MMM x H&M coat. She liked my cat iPhone case and I died with glee.

The Charlotte Ronson show was surprisingly a presentation. Her shows are generally packed beyond belief.

My view of the Anna Sui show from the American Express Skybox. Anna does 60′s to perfection.

My king, Kyle Anderson, is everywhere during the week. We all know him as the Accessories Director of Marie Claire Magazine. I fawn over his full-on Givenchy looks and this day I was lucky to arrive and get a glimpse of him when no one was around. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see my screen and my finger got in the way – novice move, Zach – but I got him on the day he brought that infamous Chanel hula hoop bag.

And here’s a clear view of what we see in the shows. This is Michael Kors and it was magical. No, really. After last season, I have have nothing but love for the tanned wonder. He seems to be going in a new direction that I love.

My next few posts will be covering NYFW in February and then we’ll move on from there. My move to New York is imminent, so I see this as the perfect opportunity to catch up and continue what I started.

Joan Smalls and Me

Oh! did I mention my encounter with Queen Joan Smalls? She was absolutely gorgeous this day in leather and sheer fabric with red lips, while I, a shaky wee-lad, was dressed in Zara. She was polite and told me it was a pleasure meeting me after asking for my name.

Complete adoration for Miss Smalls. Joan and Me. Sounds like a made for Lifetime television movie event.
