Karen Elson: HBIC

While I continue to fail writing my rants and raves post covering masculinity and femininity, can we please discuss Karen Elson?! The flame-haired model has been a fashion favorite for a while now with her striking looks, eyebrows, and hair. She’s the model that received coverage for “taking” Angelina’s spot as the face of St. John with their new direction in campaigns.

Recently, Karen has been trying her chances in music. Her husband being Jack White, it’s quite obvious that this experiment and foray into the music scene would take place. Her voice is very beautiful and not something that is average. Her song, “The Ghost Who Walks,” is an acoustic song displayed in a very artistic, indie feel that is slightly hypnotic, edging on whimsy with a raw edge. The song is something I would have liked to have heard from Scarlett Johansson’s debut rather than covers from Tom Waits, although I suggest her recent album with Pete Yorn is something worth listening to. I’m looking forward to hear more, Karen. Hit me with your best shot.  I want a full album immediately

Gaga, no…no.

Okay, Gaga, the futuristic military look is fine with me. It’s been done so many times before you, but you have put a new spin on it. Congratulations, girlfriend. But, let’s talk. Heart-to-heart.

While you do have some crazy get-ups, some actually quite fashionable and stylish in their own unique ways, I’m really stressing over what’s going on beneath this coat.

Girl, do not tell me this is an American Apparel unitard. Oh…no…Stab me with that disco stick and tell me you want my bad romance all you can, I simply will not follow you until you love me when you are traipsing around Europe in a lace unitard. Do you know what evil they’re up to?! American Apparel is singlehandedly trying to bring the 80s and 90s back, one scrunchie at a time, and I don’t know if I can get behind that acid wash of doom and gloom. I’ll take their T-Shirts and underwear but that is where I cross the line, because let’s face it, under that EVIL, their basics are oh so right. Period. Now, come back to the US of A and sing to me again. New album included.

Front Row

Front at Burberry earlier this week. Why am I so curiously wondering what conversation can come up between these three girls? Two girls with bleak personalities and then the daughter of Goldie Hawn. To be a fly on the wall.

Ba-na-nas.

Don’t you just want to pinch him?! Rachel Zoe’s assistant, Brad Goreski, ready for the Armani, Gucci, and Pucci shows wearing a red Hugo Boss suit. Cute.

RoboGaga

Gaga has been called everything but normal. She’s been letting her crazy flood Europe and it’s been a fantastical boat ride for all. From feathered horns to the pants-less and chains version, the eccentric ideas don’t back down. Her recent look takes on a RoboCop feel and is interesting at the very least. I’m curious to know what the camera is for. Maybe time will tell?

Cady Heron Out at Vogue Event in Milan

Can we discuss the Lohan? I will always support her past, present, and future endeavors in whatever this girl does nowadays besides being some crazy secret celebrity hoarder. Let’s get real, we all know that they probably payed you for that story. Seriously, how would that ever have come up in conversation for segments? And since when did Niecey Nash and her fugly hair flowers become a celebrity psychologist for “The Insider” and refer to herself as Momma? Sure she hosts that one show where they clean peoples’ homes, but it’s not like she really is trained in the field and knows what she’s talking about. No, really, hair flowers. A little tired by now me thinks…

Anyway, I digress. Lindsay, I truly love you. We spotted you out and about and I’ll have to go with I think you were looking good. Try not to act sexy, because it comes off as forced and whorish, and I believe Paris Hilton pretty much covers that for everyone. What I’m trying to get at is, continue looking like this, slowly go back to red locks, wear a bra, and do something about Ungaro. I know it’s not like you really do anything with that gig, but if you have any input, I feel you could be doing better.

P.S.

Could we work with Tina Fey again? Yeah, do something about that. You have an acting talent and that’s where you should focus. Trust me. I’ll hold you through the end with a line of coke always waiting on standby to comfort you.

P.P.S.

Don’t ever do coke again. Bad for you sinuses. Don’t want you ending up like Scarface or following this path behind Donatella Versace now do we?

P.P.P.S.

Hey Cavalli, looking a little crazy.

And to brighten up your day even more:

Brought to you by:

Since my last post might have been like radioactive waste poured onto your eyes, I think the rest of todays posts will be brought to you by Chloe, Lauren Conrad’s dog. The perfect amount of adorable and silliness from man’s best friend to get you through your day and pull you straight through that hangover and onto the next.

Be Very Afraid…

I came across these photos and it might scar you for life. Project Runway’s own Oompa Loompa has graced St. Barts with his sexy self…just see for yourself. Continue reading

Another look…

I need to find alternate views of two No. 21′s looks. I’m in love with both, but what catches my interest is the black feathers in the back. Most know I have an obsession with feathers and could find a way to wear them with any ensemble. Anyway, once I find another view, I’ll just leave you with the photos.  Images Source

Prada Fall 2010 RTW

It’s a beautiful thing to wake up, hungover, and to see glorious creations from industry icon Miuccia Prada. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this and Prada did not disappoint. This season, as many in the past, the discussions of the “too skinny” model has been thrown about. I will be discussing this topic later, but Miuccia obviously heard all of the chatter. By industry standards, she’s chosen to use curvier girls. Take from that what you will, but she chose three Angels and Lara Stone, who has been previously in the news about not being the stick-thin model.

This time around the silhouettes are mostly a-line, very 60′s inspired looks that give the body some shape. She completes this feel with the total 60′s beehive hair. The stockings are back without the disaster of falling models this go around, but cute, knitted ones that I’d love kill to see the girls on campus wear rather than there opposition to pants and their chosen alternative of tights and leggings. Sweet dreams are made this. With supple, patent leather and prints that are reminiscent of past lines, Prada gave me everything I wanted and more.

Let’s discuss the shoes. Reminiscent of the past? Check. To die for? YES, PLEASE! If I could put on a pair of these I would be working it to and from class, you better believe it. The colored, patent leather, the metal plates, the chunky heel…Miuccia knows best. I’m totally fapping over them. The shoe combined with the knitted stockings are the perfect combination and completely completes the aesthetic that makes it completely her own genius.

Beautiful and perfectly executed once again, Prada. I’ll choose to continue and admire until Spring RTW. Now, off to view the rest of what Londown and Milan has presented the previous day or so.

P.S. Someone get me these glasses, if not just to wear around the house while doing dishes or debating whether to take that nap or not, because come on, I probably just took one. That would be great. They’re absolutely divine and would be an amazing feat to pull off, but I have confidence someone will. I feel either someone quite stylish or a middle-aged woman who stays at home, scrapbooking and discussing life’s many problems to her seven cats (Emma, don’t let this be you…or maybe it would be best. I’d at least approve how fabulous you look regardless if your best friends are Mr. Paws and Princess Kitty Meow-Meow). Either image works in my mind. The frames are absolutely adorable and the red detailing on top makes it perfect.
